[edit] Primary Documents
The text of DIS 29500 is available as a free download from BSI (registration required)
The equivalent documents are also available from Ecma International, in DOCX (OOXML) format. Note those of you wanting to use these file who do not have MS Office, can rename them to have a ZIP extension, and then rootle round inside the ZIP to get at the XML. N.B. these documents differ slightly from the final OOXML text as submitted to BSI.
(I've downloaded these docs in XML form, and I'm currently trying to produce some XSLT to automatically validate as much of the code examples as I can. I'll upload my code and results when I'm done -- Inigo)
[edit] Web commentary
Perhaps the most well-known set of technical objections to OOXML are listed in a Groklaw article. The essence of what is said here formed the core of many National Body submissions at the end of the review process.
IST41/-/1 should not be rehashing these objections as they are already known and will be reviewed by the upper committees in the review process. Instead it should be using the precious time available to see if there are other things that should be said.
The OOXML/ODF converter team have produced a list of differences in support between ODF and OOXML. While some of these are implementation bugs in Office 2007, there also appear to be some technical issues with the OOXML format there too - Inigo.
